B5 Directorate for bilateral economic relations with Middle East, North Africa the Gulf, Asia, Oceania and Sub-Saharan Africa countries, is responsible for:
(a) monitoring the bilateral economic and trade relations with the above countries, , in cooperation
with the Embassies, Consulates and ECA Offices and other public and private sector bodies and services as well as for submitting proposals for the development of bilateral economic and trade relations with the countries under its responsibility.
(b) monitoring European and international financing, development and cooperation programs implemented in the countries of its responsibility,
(c) monitoring and handling cross-border issues, in cooperation with other agencies
(d) monitoring the regional policies of the European Union in the countries of its responsibility.
The B5 Directorate consists of three (3) Departments:
(a) Department I for Bilateral Economic Relations with Middle East, North Africa and Gulf countries
(b) Department II for Bilateral Economic Relations with countries of Asia and Oceania
(c) Department III for Bilateral Economic Relations with countries of Sub-Saharan Africa.
Department I is responsible for:
(a) monitoring the bilateral economic and trade relations with the following countries: Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Yemen,
(b) monitoring all sectoral European or international financing and development programs developed in the countries of its responsibility;
(c) monitoring the European policy Neighborhood in the countries of its responsibility
(d) monitoring the Gulf Cooperation Council,
(e) supporting the preparation of the Tripartite Meetings
Department II is responsible for:
(a) monitoring bilateral economic and trade relations with the following countries: China, North Korea; South Korea, Mongolia, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Brunei, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Afghanistan, India, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Micronesia, Nauru, New Zealand, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu and Fiji,
(b) monitoring all sectoral European or international financing and development programs developed in the countries of its responsibility.
Department III is responsible for:
(a) the promotion of bilateral and trade relations with the following countries: Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Kingdom of Eswatini, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea - Bissau, Benin, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Cape Verde, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Togo, Chad, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya, Comoros, Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania and Djibouti,
b) monitoring all sectoral European or international financing and development programs implemented in the countries of its responsibility.
